The sides of the rubber tray mat in the carpeted cargo area of my SUV get flattened with time and use and are inadequate to prevent fluids from field dressed game running out onto the carpet. Cadaver bags from a medical supply house (sales@medicalproducts.com, 800-345-2922) are tough and waterproof. They have basic versions at $12, mid line bags with handles at $30, and heavy duty bags with handles at about $50.

Roll a deer onto the bag which opens completely flat and zip it up entirely for a doe, or leave the antlers out for a buck. The handles make a big difference when lifting, and your clothing remains blood free. Elevate a buck's head to ensure no leaks at the opening where the antlers stick out. On the way home, pick up two bags of ice to stuff into the upper and lower abdomen.

After use, wash the bag with soap and bleach solution, rinse, dry and store for reuse. The young lady who took my order was familiar with this use of their product and did not laugh when told of my intended use of the bag. Advise your spouse of the order in advance lest he/she think the worst should they receive a body bag delivery before you do!
