Skinning With Broadheads
By Nathan Deno
Recently, after a successful day squirrel hunting, I realized that I had forgotten to sharpen the skinning knife I typically use for cleaning birds and small game. Since we traditional bowhunters work hard to keep our broadheads razor sharp, I decided to use one of my broadheads (mounted on an arrow) to skin out the squirrels. It worked amazingly well! The sharp point and clean cutting edge made working on the small animal much easier. Give it a shot the next time you field dress a small animal or bird and see what you think. Please be very cautious with a sharp instruments, and don't forget to clean and re-sharpen that broadhead!
